Nicholas John is a writer, journalist and musician living in Gloucestershire. He has been published in various short story magazines and music publications and his first collection, Tales Tall and True, is available now. Brought up on a love of language and the written word, he wrote his first stories as a child, firmly in the mould of Enid Blyton!

A varied career in music followed, including several years touring the UK as singer in a hard rock band, working as a tape-op for the Halle Orchestra and producing a raft of folk and world music albums. But the written word was never far away…

With the WordSong and Writer’s Block shows, he enjoys combining spoken word and contemporary storytelling with music and performance and has appeared at several literary events. As well as writing commercially, he interviews musicians and authors in both written and audio formats, pens music reviews and writes sleeve notes for record companies and websites.

“Lovely, confident writing and a varied range of material.  He has a good eye and a lovely use of language.”—Rebecca Tope (Author of The Cotswolds Mysteries series and others, published by Allison & Busby)

“’The Cloth We’re Cut From’ was wonderful and ‘Crescendo’ took me right in to the scene and used all the senses.”—Susan Gibbs (Author of Call of the Litany Bird, published by Loose Chippings Books)
